World Nomads insurance for digital nomads

Life as a digital nomad is exciting and full of unexpected surprises. When you start the journey, all you can think about is the new places you’ll get to explore and how liberating it’ll be to work remotely. However, it is also essential to think about insurance coverage for your travels.

As digital nomads, living abroad requires plenty of planning and organization. You never know when things could go wrong. You could have all your money stolen, or maybe your computer stops working halfway through an important job. Not to mention, traveling the world can be risky. What if you’re injured in a country where the hospital bills are incredibly high?

Having insurance is crucial to ensure that if you encounter one of these situations you can financially handle it. It is especially important to have insurance for digital nomads since your needs are very different from that of a tourist visiting a country for a short period of time. And many insurance companies know this! With the rising popularity of digital nomads, new insurance companies have risen to the occasion, including World Nomads.

They have two plans: Explorer and Standard. Each of them has different coverage, accommodating everyone’s needs. These plans can be purchased for a trip duration up to a maximum of 180 days. Unfortunately, World Nomads does not offer yearly insurance packages. However, you can extend the coverage of your plan mid-trip. COVID-19 Coverage

World Nomads now offers coverage for some Coronavirus-related events. The pandemic has affected so many lives. Travelers were placed on standby for a long time. However, now that many countries are re-opening again, World Nomads wants to help keep travelers safe as they adventure out once again.

They’ve added new coverage details to each of their insurance plans. Starting on July 2021, all plans purchased include coverage for emergency medical and repatriation if you get sick with COVID-19 while traveling. This includes medical assistance, repatriation, and hospitalization benefits.

Additionally, the Explorer Plan covers COVID-19 related events such as cancellation, expenses due to trip interruptions, and some quarantine costs if you’re tested positive of COVID-19. However, you should note that World Nomads does not consider the fear of traveling due to Coronavirus a valid reason for cancellation.

This new coverage also includes additional benefits for healthcare workers, residential care workers, and law enforcement officers who had their pre-arranged leave canceled by their employer due to Coronavirus.

The insurance does not cover loss arising from government intervention. This includes travel bans, border closures, or broadly imposed quarantine requirements. It also does not cover if the government has issued a ‘Do Not Travel’ warning or its equivalent to your country of destination. To stay informed on the latest government advice, check out this website with all the information you need.

Check this website for more specific conditions based on your country of origin.

World Nomads urges everyone to be safe and take the necessary precautions. The travel insurance isn’t designed to cover everything, so you should make sure you’re planning your trip carefully and read the policy to understand all the terms and conditions.

Should you choose World Nomads digital nomad insurance?

Overall, World Nomads has various benefits that appeal to many digital nomads. This insurance may work best for nomads planning on shorter trips since their policy is only available for under 180 days in a country. You can renew the policy during your trip, so this is also a good thing to have if your plan changes or you wish to upgrade from their Standard Plan to their Explorer Plan. But keep in mind you can not upgrade your plan in the middle of your policy so if you want to do so then you’ll have to wait until renewal time.

What makes World Nomads so great is that their prices are affordable compared to many other insurance companies. Their coverage is excellent and includes many details. They also have fast service, available 24/7. Plus, you can make any claims online while you’re on the road.
