Venture With Impact

What is Venture With Impact?

Venture With Impact is an organization founded by Ann Davis in 2016 to expose professionals to new cultures, people, and ideas to become informed and empathetic world citizens while creating positive social impact.

Ann realized that people struggled to keep the balance between maintaining their financial security through their career and traveling while working for social good. Deciding that life was too short not to have it all, she decided to start an organization that allowed dreamers to achieve this objective.

Not only does Venture with Impact support your digital nomad lifestyle by bringing you together with other professionals and provides you with everything you will need to work remotely, but it also provides you with an opportunity to give back to local communities and connect beyond work.

The organization believes that by forming relationships with both the community you are volunteering with and your fellow travelers, you will not only have the opportunity to collaborate professionally and learn about new cultures but also to grow personally.

You will be able to volunteer in different areas depending on your specific interests and schedules as the Venture with Impact team works with each participant to find the experience that best aligns with what you are looking for. You can either volunteer doing something you have experience with or getting out of your comfort zone, is up to you.

If you are ready to embrace the digital nomad life but also want to get to know the people and culture of your temporary home by giving back, Venture with Impact might just be the program for you!

How Does Venture With Impact Work?

The idea behind the Venture With Impact program is to make working remotely while volunteering as easy as possible for you and as so, it is pretty straightforward.

The organization organizes a 4-week coworking retreat in which you will be provided with accommodation and workspace, support in every step of the process, cultural immersion events and activities, access to a global community, and many other perks

By paying a fee that will depend on location, you can forget all the logistics and focus on making the best out of your experience in a new country!

To participate in the program, you will need to be at least 21 years old but if you have children, you can still participate.

Age is the only requirement written in stone, which means that as long as you are passionate about learning about new cultures, want to grow personally and professionally, and want to make a social impact, you can apply.

You can expect your travel group to have between 3 and 10 participants, which certainly is smaller than other digital nomad programs. However, the organization believes that this is a good number to allow a tight-knit group to form while having enough diversity.

If you are just considering making a transition to the remote working/digital nomad lifestyle or just want a change in scenery but haven’t talked to your employer about it, you can ask the program’s staff to speak to your employer about the benefits of the program.

You will also be provided with tips on how to pitch the idea to convince them!
The application process is as easy as filling an online application form in which you will provide basic information, when are you interested in participating and in which program, and some professional information in the form of your CV or a social media profile.

All of this information will then be used by Venture with Impact’s team to find the best non-profit organization for you as well as to have an idea of who you are and if you are a good fit.

You will then have the chance to talk with the team to answer any questions you might have and find out if the program is a good fit for you (it is a two-way street, after all).

Once a decision is made, is just a matter of paying for the month and starting packing! You will have the support of their staff from before your trip starts.

How Long is Venture With Impact?

While Venture with Impact coworking retreats are mostly 30-day programs, they also run special retreats that last one-week and can create custom retreats for teams of 5 or more members that last for more than a week.

If you are not sure if the remote work lifestyle is a good fit for you, the duration of the 30-day program makes it a perfect opportunity to get your toes wet and decide if it is right for you. In addition to the length, the support your fellow travelers and the Venture with Impact team will offer can’t hurt.

These coworking retreats are the most popular programs Venture with Impact offer and the ones with have been talking about so far. It is important to keep in mind that you can extend your stay if you choose to, you will even get a discount!

Mini retreats have special focuses such as “Self yoga retreat” or “International education retreat”, which takes some of the personalization away from you but allows you to take a quick break while having a social impact and a more intensive session with local ONGs.

Custom Impact retreats’ duration depends on your team’s decision but has a minimum duration of 1 week.

How Much Does Venture With Impact Cost?

Let’s talk numbers now! The cost of Venture with Impact programs depends on the destination you want to travel to and the duration of the program.

One of the refreshing aspects of Venture with impact is that talking about its programs’ prices is pretty easy. All “standard” programs have a fixed price and discount that doesn’t vary depending on the month of the year or how popular the program is at the moment.

The cost of the 30-day programs by destinations are:

Medellin, Colombia $2200

Chiang Mai, Thailand $12000

San Miguel de Allende, México $2200

Lisbon, Portugal $2600

If you decide to prolong your stay, you will receive a 10% discount on each additional month. But that’s not all, those who pay the program fee at least fourth months in advance will receive a $250 discount!

Mini retreats will have different values depending on what is being offered at the time as they are special programs that vary from year to year, so make sure to check out which one you are interested in.

To get a quote on the price of custom retreats, you will need to contact the Venture with Impact team.

Where do You Travel To?

With Venture With Impact, the destination is entirely up to you as they do not create itineraries between cities or countries.

However, they offer different destinations for you to choose from and create your own itineraries if you are interested.

The destinations currently available for 30-day programs are:

  • Bogota, Colombia

  • Chiang Mai, Thailand

  • San Miguel de Allende

  • Lisbon, Portugal

More destinations might be available each year depending on the special retreats that have been planned.

If you are interested in one of the Custom Impact Retreats, you will also be able to travel to New Orleans, which is only available for this type of retreat.

If you want to travel inside the country while in the program, you will be able to do so as long as you don’t forget your commitment to the NGO you are working with. That is the purpose of the program, after all!
