Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior FOIA Analyst who is ready to step up and lead in the execution and strategic planning of our FOIA processes. This role is perfect for professionals who have a deep understanding of FOIA regulations and are looking to apply their skills in a more strategic and leadership-focused capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of complex FOIA projects, ensuring compliance with legal standards and organizational policies.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for FOIA requesters, managing communications and resolving complex inquiries.
  • Guide and mentor team members, enhancing their understanding of FOIA processes and best practices.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of documents to identify potential exemptions and consult with relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the maintenance of detailed and accurate records for all FOIA requests and actions taken.
  • Collaborate with department heads to allocate resources effectively, ensuring efficient and timely FOIA responses.
  • Spearhead initiatives to improve FOIA processing and response efficiency, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Produce comprehensive FOIA reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of FOIA Analyst work products.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  •  8 total years of experience, 6 years of FOIA experience.
  • Proven track record of managing complex FOIA requests and projects, with a clear understanding of legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence across organizational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency with FOIA software (such as FOIAXpress), electronic document management systems, and office productivity tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to interpreting and applying FOIA legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and mentor team members.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to clear a comprehensive Government background investigation.
  • Appeal and Litigation experience desired.
