We are currently looking to fill a Linux System Administrator position. This position requires an active Top-Secret Clearance and is a remote position but travel to client location may be required for this role, so prefer candidates local to the national capital region.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as the technical expert responsible for the engineering, implementation, installation, operation, and maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Supporting a system modernization effort that encompasses maintaining and standing up a Linux platform, and development of a new application if required.
  • Perform day–to–day operations and interface with internal and external clients to support system operations on RHEL and Apache HTTPD/Tomcat
  • Apply in depth knowledge of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Information Guidelines (STIG) to install, configure and setup Linux environments under mandatory security requirements
  • This position requires strong technical skills in areas such as computer networking, software installation, and Linux system administration.
  • Perform general IT requirements, installation, configuration, maintenance, and security in a classified or unclassified network environment
  • Administer server operating systems including performance monitoring, operations planning, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
  • Have the ability to harden systems to be in compliance with DoD RMF policies.
  • Create and/or maintain end-user documentation for operating procedures
  • Maintain current knowledge of DoD security, technical guidelines and organizational policies
  • Ability to work during non-business hours and participate on-call rotation.  Provide 24/7/365 Tier 3 response to any/all outages or out-of-parameter conditions within 15 minutes of occurrence and ensure email notification to customer upon initiation of response.

 Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience administering, installing, and implementing complex Linux-based systems and software systems/solutions.
  • Experience with installation, configuration, and administration of Apache HTTPD and Tomcat
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Active Top Secret clearance required
  • Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Top Secret Clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security + CE or equivalent) is required
