As a Senior QA Lead, you'll be responsible for establishing quality assurance strategies, leading a team of QA engineers, and ensuring that our software meets the highest quality standards. You will drive the development and execution of comprehensive test strategies including automation, drive process improvements to enhance product reliability and performance and focus on delivering scalable, high-quality solutions that align with business goals and help pets receive the best possible care.

This role is a remote for those outside of a commutable distance of the New York City office. Some travel will be required. Individuals located in the NYC area will be considered hybrid, with a minimum requirement of 2 days a week in the office.


What You'll Do:
  • Create comprehensive test plans and strategies that align with project objectives and ensure full coverage of test scenarios.
  • Lead and mentor the QA team, guiding them toward best practices in testing and quality assurance.
  • Implement and refine test automation frameworks to streamline testing processes.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze defects, ensuring timely resolution and reporting on trends.
  • Work with engineers, product management, and other stakeholders to identify quality risks and establish preventive measures.
  • Provide regular updates on test results, quality metrics, and progress to stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to refine testing processes and methodologies.


  • What We're Looking For:
  • 6+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a lead or managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing tools, and frameworks, with proficiency in automated testing and performance testing tools.
  • A skilled troubleshooter who can identify the root cause of defects and propose solutions for improvement.
  • Ability to think strategically about QA processes, aligning them with business goals and delivering measurable improvements.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and use data to inform decision-making on testing strategy and resource allocation.
  • Capacity to handle changing requirements and technical challenges, staying flexible in dynamic environments.


  • Bonus Points:
  • Understanding of integrating testing practices into CI/CD pipelines for automated quality checks.
  • Basic coding skills in Python, Ruby, or JavaScript to enhance automation scripts.
  • Experience with API testing
  • Proficiency in performance monitoring tools like Grafana or New Relic.
  • Awareness of security testing best practices and tools.
  • The compensation for this position ranges from $100,000- $130,000 (annually). Compensation may vary outside the listed range, based on a number of factors including but not limited to location, qualifications, performance, skills, and experience. The compensation range listed is just one component of Pumpkin’s total compensation package for employees. Total compensation packages, depending on the position, may also include incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other short or long-term incentives. If hired, employees will be in an ‘at-will position’ and Pumpkin reserves the right to modify compensation (as well as any other discretionary payment or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
