Job Summary:
We are looking for a Fully Remote Subrogation Claims Specialist to join our Claims organization. This position is responsible for identifying, investigating, and pursuing recovery opportunities on claims where a third party is liable for damages paid by the insurer. This role involves managing a caseload of subrogation files related to Homeowners and Automobile claims, ensuring timely and effective recovery through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation support. This role will work closely with claims adjusters, legal teams, policyholders, and external parties to maximize recoveries while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
This is a fully remote, full-time position. Our customers are located in the Northeast so candidates must be able to work during normal EST business hours.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year

What you will do:
- Investigate claims to determine subrogation potential and responsible parties.
- Initiate and manage subrogation actions, including sending demand letters and filing arbitration.
- Negotiate settlements with third parties or their insurers to recover paid losses.
- Collaborate with adjusters, legal teams, and external vendors.
- Maintain accurate documentation and update claim systems regularly.
- Ensure compliance with state laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Ensure timely recognition and recording of reserves and recoveries (subrogation, salvage).
- Communicate promptly and professionally with all parties internal and external to Kingstone.
- Ensure claims files are maintained with professional notes, claim summary, detailed analysis and specific action plan with target dates.
- Adhere to company service standards. Provide both internal and external written correspondence in a thorough professional manner.
- Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred but not required).
- 2-5 years’ experience handling Subrogation claims.
- 5+ years' experience in handling Auto/Homeowners/Dwelling Fire/Condominium Claims (strongly preferred but not required).
- Ability to assess claim files, police reports, and other documentation to determine liability and recovery potential.
- Understanding of property and casualty insurance policies, coverages, and claims processes.
- Familiarity with subrogation laws, arbitration forums (like Arbitration Forums, Inc.), and legal procedures.
- Skills in negotiating settlements with third-party insurers or responsible parties to maximize recovery.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication with policyholders, attorneys, adjusters, and third parties.
- Ability to explain complex insurance and legal concepts in simple terms.
- Capability to manage multiple claims simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining accurate records.
- Experience with claims management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).
