Summary:
A role for a journeyman software engineer with deep experience in modern technologies and delivery methodologies. Delivers a great deal of working software to Production and provides technical leadership.
- Independently work on concurrent engineering efforts
- Design software
- Participate as requested with staff engineers in feature design
- Consider functional and non-functional considerations to design performant, scalable, and reliable software
- Create a plan for your work by gathering information from your squad, the broader R&D organization, and online research
- Inform your development by understanding the flow of data, the established patterns, and the functional needs
- Estimate effort at the feature level
- Develop software that meets our internal standards of quality
- Make daily code contributions in small, manageable chunks, with continuous integration in mind
- Fix major issues, defects and vulnerabilities in existing codebases
- Create and update unit tests to ensure proper coverage of your contributions to the code base and maintain the coverage standard
- Follow our established workflow processes for software delivery
- Abide by the standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale Web platform
- Commit tickets with no guidance
- Review other engineers’ pull requests
- Determine and add monitors and alerts to make sure that services are healthy in Production
- Enhance the standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web platform. Advocate for these standards in code reviews
- Diagnose and fix performance and optimization problems in legacy code
- Suggest improvements to the workflow processes for software delivery
- Collaborate with engineers and R&D team members outside of your squad
- Teach and provide guidance to others in your area of expertise
- Participate in resolving, and sometimes lead the resolution of, after-hours Production incidents
- Demonstrate your project work and product contributions
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience building cloud-native software
- Experience with a technology stack and architecture similar to Greenlight Guru’s
- Experience with REST, RPC, and GraphQL APIs
- Ability to create unit and integration test suites
- Experience with continuous integration pipelines and automation
- Strong communication skills - writing, speaking, and listening
- Proven collaborator with very strong people skills
- Demonstrated ability to use data to measure and explore how to evolve our technology
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Intellectual curiosity about the real-world usage of your programming

This role can be located within the United States or Canada. The base salary range for this role is $105,000 - $140,000, though actual base salary is determined by factors such as, but not limited to, experience, education, skills, and geographic location. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation and equity.
