Join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of others! We are looking for a Director of Research and Outcomes/Epidemiology/Health for our New York Operations team.
This role is remote with potential travel to our main office in Lake Success, NY and/or the FreedomCare hub closest to you.
Department & Position Overview:
This principal leader drives research initiatives focused on evaluating and enhancing the health outcomes of family caregiving programs (i.e. Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), Structured Family Caregiving, etc.). As a key strategic leader, you will lead efforts to expand and deepen our research to demonstrate the family caregiving program model’s effectiveness in reducing hospitalizations, improving health outcomes, and enhancing longevity, specifically for aging populations
This role will not only oversee the execution of studies and analysis of complex datasets, but also shape the research agenda, ensuring it aligns with broader organizational goals and influence industry-wide policy and practice. You will partner with cross-functional teams and research projects, while collaborating with senior leaders and key stakeholders. You will lead the research strategy and be responsible for publishing findings that advance the field and impact healthcare policy on the local and national level.
The Principal Researcher requires a high level of expertise in study design and statistical methods, combined with the ability to innovate and solve complex health research challenges. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving FreedomCare’s vision to position family caregiving as a national model for improving health outcomes in home care.
Every Day You Will:
Research Design and Implementation
- Lead the design and execution of epidemiological studies evaluating health outcomes related to the CDPAP program, with a focus on aging populations.
- Develop research protocols, methodologies, and analysis plans that address the unique needs of geriatric care.
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of the CDP model in reducing hospitalizations, improving health outcomes, and enhancing longevity.
- Stay updated on advancements in epidemiological methods, public health policies, and relevant health issues, particularly those affecting the aging population and the CDPAP program.
- Identify opportunities for research funding and prepare grant applications to support ongoing and future research projects.
Data Analysis
- Utilize advanced statistical techniques to analyze health data pertinent to elderly individuals in the CDPAP program, ensuring high standards of accuracy and validity in findings.
- Interpret results and provide actionable insights that contribute to enhancing the longevity and quality of life for older adults.
- Able to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
Publication and Dissemination
- Prepare and submit research for publication in academic and policy journals, with an emphasis on healthcare outcomes and long-term care.
- Present findings at conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings to influence policy and practice, particularly regarding geriatric health.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including government agencies, healthcare organizations, and academic institutions, to foster collaborative research efforts aimed at improving health outcomes for older adults.
Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 7+ years of experience in healthcare with a minimum of [2] years of post-doctoral relevant experience in epidemiological research, outcomes research or health services research with a strong background in study design and statistical analysis, specifically related to geriatrics and aging.
- Proven expertise and extensive hands-on experience in conceptualization, design, development and dissemination of health analysis to support internal and external decision-making.
- In depth knowledge of healthcare systems in the U.S., including Medicaid/Medicare, healthcare delivery systems, managed care organizations, etc.
- Proven leadership experience, managing large-scale research projects and coordinating cross-functional efforts.
- Proficiency in statistical software and data visualization tools. Strong understanding of epidemiological methods and health outcomes research in the context of aging. Experience with quantitative and qualitative research, large data sets, and complex statistical modeling techniques.
- Demonstrated success in publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals, particularly in areas related to aging and longevity.
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and communicate complex concepts to various audiences.
- A proven hands-on leader and subject matter expert, who has a passion for fostering a work environment that supports individual growth and connectedness; with the capability to effectively prioritize operational needs.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex findings to diverse audiences including healthcare professionals, policymakers and the public.
- Ability to represent FreedomCare holistically, with high emotional intelligence, empathy, and consciousness of end-user experiences (employees and customers).
- Experience with research funding and grant writing experience strongly preferred.

At FreedomCare, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides our employees with the opportunity to professionally grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $118,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of your first year of employment. Compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors which may include, but are not limited to: skill set, years of relevant experience, education, location, and licensure/certifications.
