We are looking for a Director of Business Development who will be a key leader driving Earned’s growth through partnerships and through direct-to-physician efforts. They will join our existing Growth and Advisory teams to focus on new client development and asset formation. The Director of Business Development must be able to create, cultivate and close prospects directly as well as collaborate closely with B2B partners to drive referral business. This may entail a more consultative sales approach including but not limited to providing a high-level financial plan and advice in conjunction with a prospects tax advisory or other financial service provider.
Given we are a start-up, the successful candidate will be attracted to being a pioneer in a business that is rapidly scaling, inspired by our purpose to serve physicians better- who today are radically underserved by incumbents. This critical role, as well as our young stage, affords the opportunity to help shape the full company while working closely with a very experienced team of industry experts and entrepreneurs. There will be an opportunity to develop strategies to optimally close business instead of coming into a “cast in stone” structure and process.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with CPA partners to identify and develop tax-smart wealth acceleration opportunities (e.g., tax-advantaged accounts, charitable giving strategies, direct indexing and automated tax loss harvesting) for existing tax clients → create warm leads based on the relationships CPAs have with clients combined with insight on how to achieve better outcomes working with Earned
Leverage expertise in wealth optimization to create custom proposals to prospects, ensuring that they fully understand the benefits of Earned
Directly create leads and prospects through business development techniques including driving partner referrals/cross-selling or through in-person and digital events with physician prospects
Develop and implement strategies that engage marketing-driven and self-created leads to learn more about Earned, culminating in directly closing new target client accounts and achieving growth goals
Work with the advisor team in connecting new clients to the right advisor.
Work closely with Growth Operations team and Business Development representatives to support client development process including prospect proposal materials and lead tracking through closed deals in our CRM and Sales Automation tools
Lead the creation of the “ecosystem” and “playbook” - that drives client growth and asset formation – across acquisition channels that include internal referral partners, multi-channel marketing and “offline” channels like professional association events
Ensure a seamless prospect-to-client experience, closely collaborating with Onboarding, Wealth Advisory, and Operations teams
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferably in Financial Planning, Finance, Accounting, or Economics (master's degree or MD preferred)
CFP® certification required
Expert with CRM systems such as Salesforce or Hubspot and allied marketing and sales technology
Mastery of wealth management and financial planning. 7+ years of wealth management and comprehensive financial planning experience, with a preference for experience working with physicians
Demonstrated ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of physicians' unique wealth management needs and have mastered the know-how to use a consultative approach that meets prospects where they are. to add value to their daily lives. Proven ability to convey financial advice with empathy, clarity, and confidence
Proven ability to develop and close high-net-worth prospects; you have a strong track record in business development and acquiring new clients rather than simply maintaining existing ones. Ideally, you have experience in a sophisticated acquisition approach using multiple channels to drive leads including in collaboration with CPAs or other B2B financial service providers serving physicians
A track record of working with centers of influence (such as CPAs or lawyers) in the development of new wealth management relationships
Flexible to meet the availability of physician prospects outside regular hours to accommodate their schedules and travel to attend events to meet with prospects.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
