Climate Power is a remote-first organization based in Washington, DC. This position can be located anywhere in the United States, but you must be able to work Monday - Friday, 9 am - 6 pm EST, plus weekends and evenings as the work dictates.

About This Role
- Climate Power has an immediate opening for a Multimedia Producer to join its Creative Department and conceive and execute innovative and original digital video content, including motion graphics, for its digital platforms, partners, and special projects.
- The ideal candidate will have experience producing compelling digital video content independently and at speed, some experience in politics and/or issue advocacy, and a platform-specific understanding of how to communicate with audiences online.
Primary Responsibilities
- Creative Production: Build the capacity within the Creative Team for innovative and compelling video and design content. Coordinate every stage of production, from generating relevant concepts to delivering completed products. The content produced supports the Digital Team and is largely short-form videos and motion graphics for social media, tailored to platforms.
- Planned Rapid Response: Work with Creative Department and its counterparts in the Digital Department to identify and respond to planned and emerging rapid response opportunities by producing timely and engaging creative content - inclusive of graphics and effects - that drives Climate Power’s messaging priorities across the organization’s owned social media platforms.
- Rapid Response: Monitor relevant event streams, video, and political cycle moments and trends with an eye toward identifying rapid response opportunities tailored for social media platforms. Independently work to pitch concepts and create assets from those sources.
- Content Optimization & Trend Awareness: Work closely with Digital Department counterparts to ensure that creative content is optimized for specific social platforms. Follow trends in video and design and maintain awareness of trends on social media, especially around climate politics.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Reach across Climate Power departments and campaigns to develop, retain, and grow a deep understanding of the organization’s messaging priorities and programmatic goals.
- Concept Development: Work independently and collaboratively to develop and pitch creative digital concepts for planned rapid response opportunities.
Additional responsibilities as need and capacity dictates.
Essential Qualifications
- Three years of relevant prior work experience creating digital video assets, including motion graphics, at an issue-focused non-profit, political, or news organization.
- Must work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups of people, communities, and partners.
- Experience producing timely and compelling content to answer planned and unplanned rapid response scenarios.
- Proficiency in Google Workplace, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and project management applications (like Asana, Monday, etc).
- Demonstrable in applying and adhering to brand guidelines and understanding composition, typography, and color.
- Strong understanding of the intersections between climate policy, politics, and the news cycle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, and workflow organization.
- Interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well on and across teams. A strong portfolio of digital video work.
Our Hiring Timeline and Process
We are accepting applications on a rolling basis and will continue to interview until the position is filled (posting will remain up until position filled).
Climate Power will be closed December 14, 2024 - January 5, 2025. Our goal is to begin the interview process mid to late January. An ideal start date would be on or before March 11, 2025.
Our interview process generally involves 3 rounds of interviews, ranging in length from 30-60 minutes. All interviews will be conducted via Google Meets or Zoom. Successful candidates that move forward in the hiring process, will be invited to complete a skills assessment activity (for which they will receive compensation) and will undergo a vetting process, including reference and background check to ensure cultural and political alignment.
