Bridge’s is seeking freelance bloggers and writers to collaborate with our editorial team to produce articles for our content website, BridgeUniverse. Blogging duties consist of writing shorter articles (typically 1k-2k words) on a variety of topics, including Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), job advice, teaching abroad, pedagogy, Business English, industry news, and professional development. Bloggers may be responsible for conducting light research and interviewing key stakeholders of the global English Language Teaching and Training (ELT) community.  

 

The ideal candidate will be able to meet reasonable deadlines and have some knowledge, experience, and/or interest in the ELT community and English langauge learning industry. Applicants should be self-starters who are eager to be a part of a rapidly growing team and who respond well to constructive criticism and editing. Knowledge of WordPress and SEO, as well as experience with research, journalism, interviewing, or writing in AP style is a plus. All work is remote and open globally.

Position: Freelance Writer & Blogger (Part-time)

Location: Remote

Reports to: Content Marketing Assistant, Bridge

Start Date: ASAP

Time: Project-based and variable

Summary of Responsibilities:

1.     Write at least one article per month, with potential for more

2.     Interview students, teachers, higher ed administrators, company representatives, publishers, and other ELT insiders

3.     Gather data and procure photos to publish along with article

4.     Undertake research to provide background information for articles

5.     Stay up to date on the latest ELT news and trends, researching and pitching new stories

6.     Strive for exclusive, accurate, and unique news coverage

7.     Implement SEO and various other marketing strategies into articles 

8.     Upload draft articles to WordPress, with suggested images and/or suggestions for accompanying design and graphics

Knowledge & Compliance:

  • Stays up-to-date on Bridge’s writing procedure & style guide(s)
  • Stays up-to-date on Bridge product offerings and course options

Additional Responsibilities:

  • As needed, assists with larger content projects (such as eBooks, downloadables, white papers)
  • As needed, assists with additional copywriting projects such as email campaigns

Requirements

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. TEFL/TESOL certification preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1 year teaching English as a foreign or second language
  • Work experience in a multi-cultural / international setting
  • Writing experience with writing samples
  • Familiarity with the ELT industry
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with WordPress preferred
  • Experience with SEO (search engine optimization) preferred
  • Experience in copywriting/marketing preferred (not required)
