All, merely ~11 or so minute drive from Ponta do Sol, or from a sandy beach with an adjacent marina and restaurant row, but also a supermarket (Pongo Doce) and a pharmacy.
Leases beyond 120 days may be negotiated.
About this space
Seventh heaven, in all respects: from the location, perched high above Calheta’s free sandy beach & marina, to the heavenly serenity and absolute, utter tranquility, other than birds’ chirping.
Being located at the back country, with the last 750 meters or so being an non asphalted country road, guests should consider using a high chassis car, and stay away from small, low chassis and low horse power budget cars. This, incidentally, is advisable for the island in general too...
It is adviseable to time your initial arrival to daytime, as those last portions of the access road would be harder to navigate in the dark for the first time.
Out of town as it is, still, in case of emergency the Calheta emergency room is a short drive away.
As the area is rural, it is best found, or directed to, by online maps by using its coordinates

The Space
This sweet and quaint, country quinta is perched on a mountainside, rising above, and overlooking the scenic Atlantic ocean and the woods leading to it.
Serenity, constant bird chirping to enjoy, while you nestle in a hammock…
It is an old, upgraded, basalt stones built, farm structure built some 80 years ago, turned into modern residence with all modern conveniences, furnishing, equipment, amenities and comforts.
It has wall mounted climate control system featuring remote controlled AC, heating and dehumidification, multiple channel satellite and smart TV, free WiFi, and a compact sound system.
The quinta features its own, well-lit, gated, driveway, that is completely covered by wide spreading Kiwi fruit climbers, but, alternatively, offers also an easier, ample external parking area alongside its green hedges perimeter.
The Quinta is a renovated agricultural structure (a 'palheiro') that was rendered habitable in 1940.
After the recent 2 rounds of extensive renovations it displays two design styles. Modern style living room, with polished cement floor, and bedroom, and an open space concept, compact kitchen-dining area, that embodies rustic elements rooted in the place’s history…
The living room sofa is also a pullout bed for the occasional guest.
Both the livingroom and bedroom maintain the basalt stones in plain view.
The bedroom features a stunningly high (4.5 meters) cathedral ceiling and a focus of attention artwork, “The Peacock” by a local renowned artist, produced solely from drift wood and recycled elements.
In the bedroom you will notice a newly introduced refined line of traditional, blue and white patterned Portuguese azulejos (painted ceramic tiles).
The modest size open space kitchen-dining area zone, is styled with a hint to, and heavy flavour of the place’s peasant, rustic past: massive use of rustic, barely finished, lavishly varnished wood cabinet doors, a country style rugged sink, and an indoor BBQ. Still, it is equipped with the full range of modern kitchen appliances and amenities. Pod and filter coffee makers, stove, microwave oven, etc.,etc.
The Quinta's water supply comes straight from a natural, fresh water spring, a bit higher up on the mountain.

There are also storage spaces outside, for suitcases and ike objects of the traveler.
At the Quinta's exterior, right next to its entrance door, you will enjoy a small patio featuring table and chairs, with unobstructed, panoramic view of endless rolling woods and the ocean. Here, you may have your breakfasts, occasional coffee, a drink of rum or a night cap, while the only sound around is that of birds or a remote Rooster call...
Below this small patio you will notice a small cherimoya (aka “annona”) plantation engulfed by a rolling forest surrounding it, and you may watch the seasonal works carried out in it...
Adjacent to it is a stand alone shed with a washer-dryer.
Stretching from the front small patio is the yard’s greenery, complete with a fruit bearing (in season) lemon and plum trees, and a hammock to relax next to them…
The Quinta offers also a rooftop, large, tiled patio, its front wall featuring the same, newly introduced, refined line of Portuguese Azulejos, the same as as the main bedroom’s.
This patio too overlooks the vast, panoramic view of the scenic Atlantic below, and features a table, chairs and reclining chairs. Using this patio you will be astonished at the bird chirping and delightful, otherwise utter, utter silence, the like of which you have probably never encountered!
Being well above sea level you DO find yourself, quite literally, in seventh heaven of height and peace, view of nature, and, as you observe at times, clouds floating slowly, traveling just below you, or even all around you!
Despite it, wall mounted climate control units will keep you warm enough or cool enough as the weather may dictate, and powerful dehumidifiers would counter the humidity.
The place is mere 3-4 minute drive from a close by restaurant, offering great Portuguese fare at great prices, and is a mere ~11-13 minutes of downhill drive to Madeira’s only golden sand, free, beach, bordering a Marina lined with many great eateries, a strolling promenade, a supermarket, and a pharmacy.
In this quinta you will definitely find yourself in unparalleled seventh heaven of height and delight.

Cancellation Policy
You can cancel the reservation for free within 14 days before moving.
If you cancel your booking 14 days or more before the move-in date, you’ll get a refund of the entire first rent. If you cancel your booking up to 7 days before the move-in date, you’ll get a refund of half of the first rent. If you cancel your booking less than 6 days before the move-in date, you won’t get a refund of the first rent. The service fee is always refundable. If you send a message to Flatio's Support Team requesting cancelation of the booking ("termination from the start date") within 48 hours after the lease agreement becomes valid, you're entitled to get back all the money you paid for the service fee. After 48 hours, you're entitled to a refund of the service fee in the form of a "voucher" equal to the amount of the service fee you paid. The voucher can be used for your next booking and is valid for 12 months. If the service fee for your next booking is lower than the voucher amount, we'll issue you a new voucher for the remaining amount, valid for 12 months.

What happens after I make a reservation?
Once you send a reservation request, the landlord is notified that you are interested in their offer. From that moment, they have 24 hours to approve or reject your reservation.
Landlords are mainly interested in the profile of their tenant. Do not forget to fill in all necessary information, add your profile picture, or even make a short video about yourself. Doing that will make you more attractive for the owner and your reservation will more likely get approved.
What is the standard furnishing of flats?
All the apartments on offer on Flatio must meet certain standards. We require fully furnished and equipped ones, dishes, cutlery and internet connection included.
What is a medium-term rent?
The duration of a medium-term rent is usually 1 to 12 months. Most of the landlords offer long-term rents or rents for just a few days, therefore getting a medium-term rent without Flatio is not that easy.
Can I go through the contract before I make a reservation of the housing?
You can take a look at the contract in advance and online with every offer. After you sign it, you will find it in the application My Housing.
While arranging a contract on Flatio, you do not have to worry that it could be disadvantageous for you. Our contracts are made so that we avoid all problems! All of them are the same, used by all the landlords on Flatio.
Can I see my chosen accommodation in person before I sign the lease agreement?
Your time is precious. That's why we've added a virtual tour option to our platform so you can see some of the rentals listed on Flatio from the comfort of your own home.
If a virtual tour isn't available for the accommodation you've chosen, you can contact the landlord and ask them if they're willing to give you a personal tour of the rental unit.
If you move in and find that the rented accommodation doesn't match the information on Flatio at the time the reservation request was sent to the landlord, you can withdraw from the lease agreement under certain circumstances explained in this article in our help center.
Also, under our "secure move-in" policy, we'll assist you with moving to an alternative accommodation if you report within a certain period of time that the rental unit doesn't match the ad and the landlord doesn't fix the problem immediately. You can read the details in our help center.
How can I pay?
On Flatio, you have a variety of payment methods to choose from. You can use your card, payment gateway or bank transfer. Just pick the one which suits you the most.
How can I cancel my reservation?
How you can cancel a reservation varies depending on what stage the reservation is in.
Is your reservation request still waiting for landlord approval? Then you can simply cancel it directly from your My Housing web app!
However, suppose the owner has already approved your reservation request, and you are no longer interested in it. In that case, you can still cancel the reservation before you sign the lease agreement. Just consider that you should do this only in essential cases. Because when the landlord accepts your reservation, their property is stopped being advertised, and they can lose the chance to rent their property to someone else.
Do you have an approved reservation and also a valid agreement? In order to cancel your reservation, contact Flatio customer support well in advance of your contract beginning (the specific time and amount of refund depends on the type of cancelation policy).
