Welcome to Al Podere dei Nonni, an agriturism where digital nomads and travellers can find a splended long- or short-term home-away-from-home in a beautiful corner of Tuscany.

You will be located in the heart of the Maremma in southern Tuscany, an ideal base for remote work, relaxation, and exploration. We are surrounded by rolling hills and cypress trees, medeival towns, forests, culture, and delicious food and wine. Here at home, we have an olive orchard, fruit forests, a vegetable garden, a seasonal pool, and a little forest. Various beaches are also within easy reach. Grosseto, effectly a big friendly town, has everything you'll need to survive, as well as an interesting historic city center surrounded by massive late renissance walls.

Since one of us was a digital nomad and has lived and worked in different coliving houses including a co-op, shared houses, dormatories, and hostels, we can understand your needs and are happy to work with you to find the most suitable situation for your long term stay. We understand that finding medium term accomodation for people who are traveling slowly can be a challenge, uncertain, and/or overly expensive, so we are here to help you find a solution. Although we typically rent our rooms to vacationers during the summer, we are growing our coliving community alongside volunteers to create a unique coliving experience in a lovely and peaceful location we are lucky to call home. Although we believe that all travelers would be happy here, even if only for a short period, we view our location as ideal for those who are looking for peace, relaxation, and exploration by car rather than someone who needs constant access to activities and restaurants that might be better offered in a walkable city.

We have various structures on the property:

a 3-room house (private bathroom in each room) with a shared kitchen that overlooks the hills and the pool;

a self-contained house with a private bathroom, kitchen, and garden view,
and a well-situated single room with a private bathroom that is accessible to people with disabilities.

We also have a multifunctional room, outdoor patios with tables and chairs, and a large upstairs balcony, all where you can work and enjoy the views of the countryside. We also have a shared space in the house upstairs where we can prepare shared dinners. We live here at the property so we can help out whenever needed.

Since one of us previously worked remotely and was connected at all different hours of the day, we can say that the satellite-based WIFI internet connection we provide is mostly solid, though there are occasional periods of downtime in the event of strong rain. All things considered, the connection is solid for remote work. The average download speed is 60 Mbps, and the upload speed is 20 Mbps. The WIFI functions around the agritursm, inside and out, though not in the olive orchard/fruit forests/etc. so we recommend getting a temporary SIM card if you would like to work very far away from the structures, or would like a backup for whatever reason.

We maintain a garden, olive orchard, fruit trees, and sometimes animals in addition to the rest of the agriturism. Some of our guests have helped us in tasks around the farm and we are happy to have the company and the help. We are also happy to share fruits and vegetables (seasonally dependant) with those that help!

We currently do not offer a meal plan but at least once or twice a week we are happy to prepare and eat meals together. If we are hosting volunteers during your stay, we all eat together so contact us with your plans if you are interested in this communal aspect. There's no obligation in any case. Otherwise, there are two small supermarkets a few minutes away by car, or various supermarkets in Grosseto that have delicious products from all over Italy, about 15 minutes away by car.

We recommend renting a car or vespa/moto for at least part of your stay since there are so many wonderful places in our area to visit and the reality is that everything is most easily reached by private vehicles. There is a public bus that passes outside our gate, but it only runs twice a day into Grosseto and twice a day back here. The bus arrives in Grosseto and from there you can take another bus or train to different places. Personally, since we are in the countryside on a beautiful property, we happily spend the majority of our time here, but we do make our way to Grosseto a few times a week so we may be able to help with some transport from time to time.

We would like to finish by saying that numerous previous volunteers and guests have contacted us privately to find additional ways to partake in the project we have here. We have a passion for the outdoors and fruit and are doing our best to be part of the sustainable future. As a digital nomad or traveler with skills, you may also be interested in volunteering with us. Contact us so we can get to know each other and what sort of opportunities we may have available.

Frequently asked questions for this offer

What happens after I make a reservation?

Once you send a reservation request, the landlord is notified that you are interested in their offer. From that moment, they have 24 hours to approve or reject your reservation.
Landlords are mainly interested in the profile of their tenant. Do not forget to fill in all necessary information, add your profile picture, or even make a short video about yourself. Doing that will make you more attractive for the owner and your reservation will more likely get approved.

What is the standard furnishing of flats?

All the apartments on offer on HousingAnywhere must meet certain standards. We require fully furnished and equipped ones, dishes, cutlery and internet connection included.

What is a medium-term rent?

The duration of a medium-term rent is usually 1 to 12 months. Most of the landlords offer long-term rents or rents for just a few days, therefore getting a medium-term rent without HousingAnywhere is not that easy.

Can I go through the contract before I make a reservation of the housing?

You can take a look at the contract in advance and online with every offer. After you sign it, you will find it in the application My Housing.
While arranging a contract on HousingAnywhere, you do not have to worry that it could be disadvantageous for you. Our contracts are made so that we avoid all problems! All of them are the same, used by all the landlords on HousingAnywhere.

Can I see my chosen accommodation in person before I sign the lease agreement?

Your time is precious. That's why we've added a virtual tour option to our platform so you can see some of the rentals listed on HousingAnywhere from the comfort of your own home.
If a virtual tour isn't available for the accommodation you've chosen, you can contact the landlord and ask them if they're willing to give you a personal tour of the rental unit.
If you move in and find that the rented accommodation doesn't match the information on HousingAnywhere at the time the reservation request was sent to the landlord, you can withdraw from the lease agreement under certain circumstances explained in this article in our help center.
Also, under our "secure move-in" policy, we'll assist you with moving to an alternative accommodation if you report within a certain period of time that the rental unit doesn't match the ad and the landlord doesn't fix the problem immediately. You can read the details in our help center.

How can I pay?

On HousingAnywhere, you have a variety of payment methods to choose from. You can use your card, payment gateway or bank transfer. Just pick the one which suits you the most.

How can I cancel my reservation?

How you can cancel a reservation varies depending on what stage the reservation is in.
Is your reservation request still waiting for landlord approval? Then you can simply cancel it directly from your My Housing web app!
However, suppose the owner has already approved your reservation request, and you are no longer interested in it. In that case, you can still cancel the reservation before you sign the lease agreement. Just consider that you should do this only in essential cases. Because when the landlord accepts your reservation, their property is stopped being advertised, and they can lose the chance to rent their property to someone else.
Do you have an approved reservation and also a valid agreement? In order to cancel your reservation, contact HousingAnywhere customer support well in advance of your contract beginning (the specific time and amount of refund depends on the type of cancelation policy).
