About the Position

Responsibilities:

  • Own talent planning for the SparkPlug core team, including outlook for future talent needs that align with business objectives.
  • Build and manage a recruitment pipeline for both technical and non-technical candidates
  • Build structure to expand beyond core team capacity through contractors, freelancers, and outsourced providers. Enable better process to onboard/offboard at scale.
  • Optimize our end-to-end recruiting process for the ideal candidate experience from recruitment, offer, and onboarding. Create a system that increases automation around candidate communication, and standardizes the offer process, and timeline expectations.
  • Own the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding, ensuring employee engagement and growth; you’ll focus on continuously improving the employee/workplace experience & productivity and on developing, motivating, and retaining SparkPlug’s talent.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to draft job descriptions, identify key elements of the role, and formulate questions to ask in an interview setting that will help determine if a candidate’s skill set is a match.
  • Proactively source and maintain a list of candidates who exhibit high potential, interest, and strong culture fit. Develop a bench of resources – recruiting agencies and individuals – to assist in searching for hard-to-fill roles.
  • Manage inbound resumes, and conduct first-round screenings. Assess each candidate’s capabilities and experience to determine if they are a good fit for the role.
  • Set a systematic way of setting and tracking goals for each team member as they onboard, quarterly, and annually in collaboration with their manager and aligned with the individual’s + company goals.
  • Develop a performance management system whereby we are giving top performers increased responsibility and opportunity for growth, and proactively identifying and coming up with strategies to support people who are underperforming.
  • Stay abreast of market trends and incentive models to ensure we are creating compelling offers for new candidates and retaining top-tier talent.
  • Manage mandatory reporting and state-by-state compliance.
  • Create a central repository for existing policies, procedures, and guides for employees.
  • Oversee team culture activities that foster a sense of ownership and belonging.

Requirements

  • Experience as lead People Ops/HRBP with strong understanding of core Human Resource procedures, principles and concepts.
  • 3-5 yrs of people management experience.
  • Exposure to a globally distributed team from an HR/People ops perspective, including multi-state compliance.
  • Experience developing growth and career paths.
  • Experience overseeing or closely involved with payroll and benefits renewal and administration.
  • Track record of resolving complicated employee issues and developing people policies (worked as an HRBP, People Partner, Senior HR Manager/Generalist).
  • History of performance management process execution and optimization.
  • Strong project management skill, including goal setting, milestones, contingency planning, etc.
  • Startup experience in a high growth org (SaaS preferred).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with strong emotional intelligence, rapport building, and de-escalation skills.
  • Strong excel/data analysis skills.
