Job details

The real economy employs 3 billion people in shift-based jobs, yet there is no ‘Microsoft for the Deskless’. Businesses choose between paper or 20-year-old workforce management solutions, both of which harm their employees and their business.

Sona is building the Operating System for the Deskless; an end-to-end platform to manage the entirety of a shift-based workforce. Sona combines a horizontal core engine that powers customers across sectors and geographies, coupled with vertical-specific plugs that handle the complexity of each sector that large businesses need to operate efficiently.

The market is enormous and the timing is perfect; with Sona we have the opportunity to build a very large, impactful and sector-defining business. In year 1 we raised over $10 million from Google’s AI fund – Gradient Ventures, SpeedInvest, Notion Capital and angels like Tom Blomfield.

It’s a hugely exciting time to be joining the team, as we’re still small enough that you’ll have a significant impact on the company, growth trajectory and culture, but large enough that we have a great structure, experienced leaders and world-class benefits in place (such as being fully remote and flexible, and only working 4.5 days a week)

About the Role

We’re taking the modern, user-centric product experience that we’ve all come to expect in our consumer lives and putting it in the hands of front-line teams. As the third designer in our growing Product team, you’ll play a key role in developing our long-term product vision and helping us reach it by delivering small pieces quickly and iterating based on our users’ feedback and needs.

To excel in this role, you’ll need to balance ideal user experience with business needs, align across a Product team on the right level of ‘done’, and effectively manage time, fidelity, and the appropriate tooling on a piece-by-piece basis to ensure the rest of the team is supported. It’s a challenge but brings with it the rewards of having a large amount of influence on the product we’re building together.

To achieve this, you’ll be empowered with the freedom to work how and when is best for you and have the opportunity to exercise a wide range of skills, including; product strategy and planning, customer interviews, interface design, implementing processes for effective product delivery, and helping to build up our component library.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you will be:

  • Working with the rest of the Product team to define and deliver output to meet business objectives

  • Aligning internal stakeholders and customers around outcomes and design decisions

  • Working with insights from our researcher, and independently working with customers to validate requirements

  • Helping to coordinate output across our design and wider product team

  • Refining deliverables across the web and (react native) mobile app from proposal, to lo-fi concept and polished UI.

Requirements

We don’t have hard and fast requirements, but hopefully, lot’s of the following apply to you:

  • You work collaboratively with a cross-functional product team to define tasks, timings, and roadmaps

  • You’re outcome-oriented when it comes to UX design and excel equally in definition and delivery phases

  • You’re familiar with component libraries and design systems.

  • You’re comfortable with change and experienced with Agile and/or Lean methodologies

Benefits:

  • £65-85k (or local equivalent)

  • 4.5-day standard working week

  • Share options

  • Fully remote and flexible working

  • 35 days annual leave (25 days standard plus 10 flexible public holiday days)

  • Pension contributions matched up to 5%

  • Free mental health support (On-demand online therapy & coaching)

  • Enhanced parental leave & pay

  • Co-working space stipend

  • Quarterly all expenses paid team retreats

  • The latest Macbook and equipment for your home office

  • Professional development budget

  • Unlimited free books
